Job Area: Sales, Business Development & Marketing Group, Sales, Business Development & Marketing Group > Business Development General Summary: Qualcomm is seeking a Director of Business Development to drive day-to-day SpaceX-focused business development execution under the VP account strategy. This role will translate executive account priorities into actionable opportunities, technical workstreams, commercial proposals, and cross-functional operating plans. The successful candidate will identify and advance partnership opportunities across Starlink direct-to-device, satellite connectivity, Snapdragon platforms, NTN capabilities, mobile devices, IoT, automotive, private networks, and connected edge devices while ensuring Qualcomm teams are aligned on priorities, ownership, timelines, and execution milestones.
Key Responsibilities
Role scope: Lead day-to-day SpaceX-focused business development execution under the VP account strategy, with emphasis on opportunity creation, technical alignment, and internal coordination. Opportunity development: Identify and advance partnership opportunities across Starlink direct-to-device, satellite connectivity, mobile devices, Snapdragon platforms, NTN capabilities, IoT, automotive, private networks, and connected edge devices. Technical translation: Partner with Qualcomm product, engineering, standards, modem-RF, software, and AI teams to translate SpaceX requirements into platform opportunities, proof-of-concept plans, roadmap inputs, and technical engagement priorities. Account engagement: Maintain working-level and senior stakeholder relationships with SpaceX product, engineering, partnerships, commercial, and go-to-market teams. Cross-functional execution: Coordinate business unit engagement, prepare executive briefings, manage follow-ups, and ensure account actions move from discussion to decision. Commercial enablement: Support business case development, commercial proposals, deal preparation, partnership frameworks, and internal approval processes. Success measures: Qualified SpaceX opportunity pipeline, active technical workstreams, clear ownership across Qualcomm teams, progress on pilots or proof points, and disciplined execution against account priorities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of Sales, Business Development or related work experience. OR Associate's degree and 10+ years of Sales, Business Development or related work experience. OR High School Diploma or equivalent and 12+ years of Sales, Business Development or related work experience. *Completed advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years (Master’s = one year, Doctorate = two years) of work experience. This role is U.S.-based, and is not eligible for visa sponsorship. This position can be based out of Qualcomm's Santa Clara or San Diego's office locations and is expected to comply with the company's onsite work policy.
Preferred Qualifications
12+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, product strategy, sales, corporate development, or ecosystem development in the technology industry. Experience managing complex strategic accounts, technical partnerships, or multi-stakeholder customer engagements. Strong understanding of connectivity, mobile devices, semiconductor platforms, satellite communications, NTN, modem-RF systems, Snapdragon platforms, IoT, automotive, and edge AI use cases. Ability to translate partner requirements into Qualcomm platform opportunities, technical workstreams, business cases, and executive-ready recommendations. Strong cross-functional leadership, communication, commercial judgment, structured problem solving, and execution discipline.
