About this role

At Google, we put our users first. The world is always changing, so we need Product Managers who are continuously adapting and excited to work on products that affect millions of people every day. In this role, you will work cross-functionally to guide products from conception to launch by connecting the technical and business worlds. You can break down complex problems into steps that drive product development. One of the many reasons Google consistently brings innovative, world-changing products to market is because of the collaborative work we do in Product Management. Our team works closely with creative engineers, designers, marketers, etc. to help design and develop technologies that improve access to the world's information. We're responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting, and tailoring our solutions to our users. As a part of this role, you will join User Protection, part of the Privacy, Security, and Safety (PSS) organization in Core, with a mission to keep users safe, at scale. You will provide a reliable and scalable abuse fighting platform, protecting 77+ products (including flagship products like Maps, Photos, Gmail, Workspace, etc) from displaying harmful or malicious content. You will work with our server-side platform, which processes millions of queries per second (QPS) and serves hundreds of thousands of verdicts per second to identify billions of items of abusive content per month, keeping internet users safe worldwide. In this role, you will collaborate with software and site reliability engineers across global sites to deliver technical excellence and ensure Google can handle the ever-evolving landscape of abuse. The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.

Partner with internal stakeholders, across Trust and Safety, Legal, Core User Protection Engineering and Product Manager, and more, to understand Google's content safety platform needs. Define and track our products' measures of success Key Performance Indicator (KPIs), and set goals Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for your team. Collaborate closely with other User Protection Product Manager (PMs) to define and deliver on joint programs and products. Lead an existing engineering team, defining and managing clear roadmaps and product requirements.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 3 years of experience in product management or a related technical role. 1 year of experience taking technical products from conception to launch (e.g., ideation to execution, end-to-end, 0 to 1, etc). Preferred qualifications: 4 years of experience in product management, preferably for software engineering platform products. Experience with content safety or security systems. Experience working with systems with extremely high QPS and strict reliability requirements. Prior software engineering experience, or experience in developer facing roles, as our product's clients are engineers that consume our APIs and documentation to augment their systems with content abuse detection capabilities. Comfort with discussing sensitive subject matters, including violence, hate speech and sexually explicit abuses. Skilled at stakeholder management, data-driven decision making, roadmap/backlog management, and participation in multi-year strategic planning.
