The Principal Electrical Engineer serves as a departmental subject matter expert in electrical engineering. This role is responsible for the engineering and design of large, complex projects that support the sustainable operation of the organization’s distribution, generation, and storage systems. The position collaborates with engineers, technicians, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders to deliver complex technical projects within their area of expertise. This individual is a specialist in electrical utility systems, including product design, layout, and implementation. This engineering position is responsible for the operational performance of solar and battery generating plants in the regional headquarter, Essexville Renewable Center. This role will work closely with operations leadership and field technicians to problem solve and implement engineering solutions to meet safety and performance metrics of multiple solar and battery storage plants.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with specifications, applicable codes, and customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, and testing activities. Prepare reports and compile data related to existing and potential electrical engineering projects and studies; provide technical support to other departments and personnel as needed. Develop specifications for the procurement of electrical equipment and materials, and estimate material, labor, and construction costs for budget preparation. Design, control, and implement electrical systems and products; serve as the primary point of contact for clients on all electrical engineering project matters. Manage the development and implementation of electrical systems. Perform a wide range of engineering tasks using computer-assisted design (CAD) and other engineering software and tools. Design, maintain, implement, and improve electrical instruments, facilities, components, equipment, products, and systems for industrial, commercial, or domestic applications. Prepare contract documents, including specifications, drawings, and addenda. Collaborate with customers, coworkers, and stakeholders to discuss existing or potential engineering products or projects; monitor project progress and budgets, and prepare reports for senior management. Ensure that installations and operations conform to standards and customer requirements by preparing electrical system specifications, technical drawings, and topographical maps; investigate and resolve project issues in a timely manner.
