Grade Level (for internal use): 11 The Team The Financial Institutions and International Public Finance team at S&P Global Ratings covers banks, non-bank financial institutions, and public finance issuers across Australia and New Zealand, operating from offices in Melbourne and Sydney. The team collaborates closely with global colleagues and alongside Sovereign and Insurance analysts, delivering rigorous credit analysis and trusted credit opinions in an international working environment. Responsibilities and Impact at the Rating Analyst Level Team Contribution & Capability Building Contribute to team analytical consistency by supporting workflow improvement initiatives and adhering to shared standards, processes, and documentation requirements. Core Analytical & Delivery Collect and analyze economic and financial data for assigned credits, maintaining models and databases and preparing well-supported materials for rating committees under the direction of senior analysts. Apply AI tools and automation to support research, data analysis, and analytical workflows, maintaining structured validation and accurate documentation. Stakeholder & Market Engagement Support the preparation of high-quality credit reports and communications for investors and internal stakeholders, engaging with external parties under the guidance of senior analysts. Risk Management and Operating Ensure adherence to analytical methodology, confidentiality standards, and data governance requirements, escalating emerging issues early with clear options and recommendations. Contribute to industry research, internal projects, and working groups, supporting process improvements that enhance analytical efficiency. What We're Looking for at the Rating Analyst Level Required Skills and Experience An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 1+ years of relevant experience in credit analysis, financial analysis, or a related analytical role. Demonstrated analytical background in credit analysis, bank treasury, corporate treasury, economics, or equity research. Demonstrated knowledge of financial statement analysis and accounting concepts, with the ability to analyze complex financial data. Demonstrated ability to manage assigned analytical tasks, maintain models and databases, and contribute to committee materials with clear documentation and timely delivery. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including the ability to manipulate large datasets and work with financial and credit models. Preferred or Helpful Experience Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred. A master's degree or professional certification (such as CFA) is highly valued. We welcome candidates from traditional finance disciplines as well as diverse academic backgrounds that support innovative and critical thinking. Experience with the analysis of financial institutions or international public finance issuers in Australia or New Zealand.
