Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU) has an exciting career opportunity for a Systems Engineer - Level 2 , to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position supports Warfighter Simulation Services (WSS) which includes the Missile Defense Advanced Simulation (MDASim) and Missile Defense Space Tool (MDST) programs and will split time between the Northrop Grumman facility and Schriever Space Force Base (SSFB), in Colorado Springs, CO. This role requires candidates to be onsite daily with very limited remote/hybrid work available.
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Systems Engineer to support the WSS team. The successful candidate will assist in the software development lifecycle through requirements derivation, process development and refinement, Model Based Systems Engineering model development, and contractual documentation. Collaborating with senior engineers, you will contribute to data-driven analysis and systems engineering workflows that ensure our simulation tools accurately represent current and future threat environments. Essential Functions: Support capability elicitation and derivation of requirements to realize requested development. Collaborate in defining and developing processes and procedures. Research and gain experience with missile defense concepts, space-based sensor phenomenology, and threat model trajectories. Work in close coordination with senior engineers to develop systems engineering artifacts supporting development and testing. Participate in the development and update of technical documentation, system requirements, and user guides for simulation tools. Provide briefings to customer(s) and stakeholder(s) related to technical solutions, process development and updates, and system engineering artifacts. Support training and orientation of simulation tools. Basic Qualifications
(BQs): Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of related work experience, or a Master's Degree in STEM with 0–2 years of related work experience. Practical experience executing or analyzing results from military modeling and simulation (M&S) frameworks. Familiarity with missile defense concepts, space-based tracking/sensors, or orbital mechanics. Basic understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts. Must be self-motivated and capable of executing technical tasks with minimal supervision. Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs.
