The Opportunity
Operate offset and direct image printing equipment to support high-quality, efficient production. This role is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and maintaining printing machinery while ensuring adherence to specifications, safety standards, and production goals. A typical day includes reviewing job specifications, preparing equipment, monitoring print quality, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with maintenance and other departments to ensure continuous workflow and operational excellence. How you will impact Smurfit Westrock: * Set up, adjust, and operate offset and direct image printing equipment to meet production and quality standards. * Operate auxiliary equipment such as cutters and plate-making systems. * Review and follow job specifications and production documentation to ensure accuracy. * Monitor equipment performance and identify, troubleshoot, and correct malfunctions. * Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and machine adjustments to maintain optimal performance. * Notify leadership of required repairs or replacement parts. * Ensure all equipment is maintained in safe working condition. * Support training of team members as assigned. * Collaborate with maintenance and cross-functional teams on projects and process improvements. * Follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards at all times. * Maintain a clean and organized work area. * Apply LEAN principles to improve quality, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency. * Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, and customer satisfaction. What you need to succeed: * Ability to read and recognize differences between words and numerical sequences. * Effective communication skills, including reading, writing, and speaking. * Ability to present information clearly in one-on-one and small group settings. * Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. * Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, and percentages. * Intermediate computer skills (email, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing). * Demonstrated mechanical aptitude or ability to pass a mechanical assessment. * Knowledge of printing process documentation and adherence to s pecifications. * Ability to maintain reliable attendance and work overtime as needed. * Ability to pass color vision testing. * Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. The starting rate is $20 per hour, depending on your role, level, experience, and location.
