Where is the work: Field-based: Work is conducted on-site at customer locations.     What's in it for you: Trane Technologies is hiring a Data Center Technician to support mission‑critical data centers and high‑reliability facilities. In this role, you will commission, troubleshoot, repair, and start up advanced HVAC systems that keep essential operations running. You will use your technical expertise in HVAC systems, thermodynamics, mechanical layouts, and pipe fitting to solve complex issues and help ensure maximum uptime. You will collaborate with internal teams and customers on new facility installations and retrofits. This role directly supports performance, service reliability, and customer confidence in critical environments.

What you will do

Startup chillers in accordance with the design submittals and commissioning requirements. Troubleshoot chiller performance and operational issues (mechanical and electrical) Evacuate chillers according to company standards and troubleshoot leaks. Refrigerant transfer to and from chillers and record information in a refrigerant activity report. Perform required repairs and maintenance on designated equipment. Coordinates with service leaders, project managers, project engineers and customers to precisely understand site requirements.   Represents the company by ensuring customer satisfaction through identifying, diagnosing and repairing equipment and systems at customer’s location. Uses cutting edge software and technology, along with a variety of hand-tools, following submittals or engineering specifications, to diagnose and repair units. Displays team effort and dedication to customers by maintaining flexibility to work overtime and weekends as the business requires, including occasional overnight stays. Provides coaching and training to less experienced technicians as required. Continually enforces safety to the highest standards and maintains security and accountability of company issued and procured assets by recording use, wear and conditions.

What you will bring

A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required. 5+ years of experience in HVAC providing expertise in the systems level knowledge. Technical School or formal training is preferred. Clear understanding of refrigeration theory is preferred. Electrical troubleshooting knowledge is preferred. Mechanical systems knowledge is preferred. EPA Universal Certification required. Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with handheld computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad). Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to: DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
