About this role

WHAT YOU’LL DO Role:   The Lead of mechanical assembly line will play a crucial role in guiding the assembly team in manufacturing Direct Contact Liquid Cooling (DCLC™) products at our Calgary facility. This position is ideal for an experienced individual who values teamwork, takes the initiative, and contributes to process improvements and efficiency while maintaining high-quality standards.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for the assembly team, ensuring smooth workflow and task allocation. Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to team members. Assist in resolving technical issues and troubleshooting assembly-related problems. Support continuous improvement initiatives and provide feedback to supervisors. Safety and Compliance: Ensure adherence to all safety guidelines and protocols within the team. Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of industrial coolants. Report safety hazards and enforce compliance with company policies and regulations. Quality Assurance: Conduct quality checks on assembled products to meet specifications and industry standards. Work closely with the Quality Control team to resolve defects and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Assist in developing and improving work instructions for consistent quality. Assembly and Production: Lead or perform assembly, fitting, and installing prefabricated parts or prototypes to form subassemblies or finished products such as Coldplate Loops, Manifolds, Tube Assemblies, and Heat Exchanger Module Products. Utilize hand tools, power tools, and assembly fixtures efficiently. Ensure team members follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs). Provide input on process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce errors. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain production logs and assist team members with documentation. Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and other departments regarding progress and challenges. Continuous Improvement: Participate in Kaizen activities to drive efficiency and eliminate waste. Assist in implementing Lean Manufacturing principles such as 5S and Kanban. Identify and recommend process improvements to optimize workflow. Testing: Conduct or support team with functional and pressure testing to verify product reliability. • Record and analyze test data for process optimization. Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot and refine testing procedures. Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Identify and resolve minor assembly or production issues promptly. Conduct routine equipment maintenance such as cleaning and calibration of electrical/electronic equipment, to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Support engineering in diagnosing complex technical problems. Material Handling: Retrieve, inspect, and manage parts, tools, and materials for assembly processes. Ensure proper storage, labeling, and organization of inventory. Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and small cranes. Packaging: Inspect products before packaging to ensure completeness and quality. Follow detailed packaging instructions, ensuring compliance with shipping standards. Secure and label packaged products appropriately for transit.

Basic Qualifications

Minimum High School Diploma required. Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 1 year in a leadership or lead-hand role. Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S, Kaizen, and Continuous Improvement. Experience with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), and quality inspection processes. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints. Familiarity with basic troubleshooting techniques for mechanical and electrical assembly issues.

Preferred Qualifications

Post-secondary education in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
