Job Description
Position Summary The Highway Design Engineer is responsible for undertaking the planning, geometric design, and detailed design of highway and transportation infrastructure projects under the supervision of senior engineers. The role supports the delivery of multidisciplinary projects through the preparation of engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and technical coordination while ensuring compliance with client requirements, international standards, and local authority regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Delivery Prepare highway geometric designs from concept through detailed design. Develop horizontal and vertical alignments, cross sections, grading, and corridor models. Produce engineering calculations, design reports, quantities, and technical documentation. Prepare design drawings in accordance with project BIM and CAD standards. Coordinate with traffic, utilities, drainage, structures, landscape, lighting, ITS, and BIM teams. Review survey information and integrate design constraints into the highway design. Assist in utility coordination and conflict resolution. Support Value Engineering studies and option assessments. Participate in road safety reviews and design risk assessments. Assist during construction support activities including technical queries, design clarifications, and site visits. Project Delivery Deliver assigned design packages within programme and budget. Maintain quality in accordance with AECOM Quality Management System. Ensure compliance with client standards including RTA, DM, DEWA and applicable international standards. Support preparation of submissions for authority approvals. Coordination Coordinate with internal multidisciplinary teams. Attend coordination meetings with clients and stakeholders when required. Assist in preparation of presentations and technical workshops. Quality Perform self-checks prior to submission. Address design review comments promptly. Maintain proper document control and revision management.
Qualifications
Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
Experience
4–8 years of highway design experience. Experience in UAE infrastructure projects is preferred. Experience delivering projects for RTA or similar authorities is an advantage. Technical Skills Highway geometric design. Road corridor modelling. Earthworks and grading. Pavement layouts. Utility coordination. Quantity estimation. Technical report preparation. Software Proficiency Bentley OpenRoads Designer Civil 3D MicroStation AutoCAD ProjectWise Bluebeam Microsoft Office Knowledge of BIM workflows is desirable.
