Primary Responsibilities
Design and develop LLM-powered healthcare applications Build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions using payer policies, clinical evidence, and authorization guidelines Develop Agentic AI workflows and multi-agent orchestration frameworks Implement prompt engineering, evaluation, grounding, and safety frameworks Build AI copilots and decision-support assistants Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams to deliver production-ready AI capabilities Support Responsible AI, AIRB, governance, and model observability Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so Required Qualifications: 6+ years of software engineering / AI experience Solid Python development experience Hands-on experience with: Large Language Models (LLMs) RAG Prompt Engineering Agent Frameworks (LangGraph, CrewAI, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen) Vector Databases Experience with Azure OpenAI / Azure AI Services Experience deploying AI solutions in production environments Preferred Qualifications: Healthcare, Prior Authorization, Claims, or RCM experience Experience with AI evaluation and observability tools FHIR, HL7, Epic or healthcare interoperability knowledge At UnitedHealth Group, our mission is to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone.
