Tool Maker C - 75506 Company: The Boeing Company Boeing Commercial Airlines is excited to offer opportunities for a Tool Maker C to join our Materials Management & Tooling team in Renton , Washington. As a Tool Maker C , you will fabricate, repair, and maintain complex production and assembly tooling to support aircraft manufacturing. This role interprets engineering drawings and 3D models, performs precision layouts and measurements using conventional optics and metrology systems, and uses hand and power tools, woodworking and composite processes, and machine operations to build, modify, and certify master, secondary, and temporary tooling . The Tool Maker C sequences work from MES, coordinates with engineers and tool manufacturing teams, performs STO and rework tasks, supports production with installation and removal of tooling on aircraft assemblies, documents and submits work for QA, handles hazardous materials per SDS, and maintains required personal , training, and tool certifications. Position
Responsibilities : Receive assignments from team lead, supervisor, or MES/ready-to-work file and determine sequencing by schedule, tool availability, and priorities. Retrieve and review required drawings, specifications, sketches, 3D models, and documentation using MAPS/REDARS/Catia/Enovia/Web and read MES to add shop notes. Contact team lead, tool engineer, TME, or supervisor for clarification or assistance; initiate/monitor ARs, NCRs, or SAT and engineering/design change requests when discrepancies arise. Plan and perform layout and sequencing for jobs, using shop math, geometry, and trigonometry to calculate dimensions and hole locations. Select, verify, and obtain required tools, gauges, metrology equipment, parts, and materials from tool room or storage; confirm tool certification dates and order missing items. Perform Standing Tool Orders (STO) and minor tool repairs/replace non-key features (pins, bolts ) and provide production/tooling assistance and layout support to production when tooling is unavailable. Use hand and power tools (saws, drill press, grinders, sanders, pneumatic tools) and shop equipment to shape materials, prepare metal for welding, and fabricate details and assemblies. Fabricate or repair laminated fiberglass tools and perform epoxy pours, pot bushings, pierce punches, and liquid shims per MES and Plastics Tool Manual; assist building plaster mandrels and mockups and make plaster reproductions using 3D metrology. Drill, ream, tap, countersink/counterbore holes to specified sizes; install dowels, attach cables/chains to removable details, and install/remove tooling parts from airplane sections and assembly tools. Install, clean, unpack, and position Master, Secondary, or Facility gauges for tool maintenance or rework and assist inspectors with in-process and final QA checks and stamp/tag rework as required. Use conventional optics and 3D metrology systems (Laser Tracker, Photogrammetry, Portable CMM, On-Trak, etc.) to perform precision measurements, data collection, and capital equipment validation. Build wooden storage/shipping containers and temporary tooling fixtures; assist crane crew with moving airplane sections and install lifting fixtures as required. Check completed work after each operation for conformance to W/O, drawings, specs or sketches; submit required in-process checks and deliver completed jobs to QA, assisting inspectors as needed. Handle and dispose of hazardous materials (lubricants, paints, epoxies, adhesives, solvents) per SDS and Boeing requirements using PPE; maintain
