About this role
McKesson is an impact-driven, Fortune 10 company that touches virtually every aspect of healthcare. We are known for delivering insights, products, and services that make quality care more accessible and affordable. Here, we focus on the health, happiness, and well-being of you and those we serve – we care. What you do at McKesson matters. We foster a culture where you can grow, make an impact, and are empowered to bring new ideas. Together, we thrive as we shape the future of health for patients, our communities, and our people. If you want to be part of tomorrow’s health today, we want to hear from you. Sr. Category Manager, Professional Services (Technology) Key Responsibilities Strategic Category Leadership Own the end-to-end Technology Professional Services category strategy, encompassing staff augmentation, managed services, consulting, outsourced development, and related tech labor models. Define multi-year category roadmaps aligned to business technology investments, organizational priorities, and evolving market capabilities. Serve as the recognized subject-matter expert and trusted advisor to senior technology, finance, and operational stakeholders on market trends, supplier capabilities, and emerging service models. Proactively identify category opportunities and bring forward-thinking, data-backed recommendations without waiting to be asked. Complex Contracting & Deal Structuring Lead the structuring and negotiation of sophisticated, multi-phased Technology Services agreements — including MSAs, SOWs, outcome based delivery frameworks, T&M and fixed-fee constructs, and hybrid commercial models. Design contract frameworks that appropriately balance business flexibility, risk allocation, IP protection, data security, and performance accountability. Drive favorable commercial outcomes on pricing benchmarks, rate cards, SLAs, KPIs, governance cadences, and exit provisions. Oversee the full SOW lifecycle within Fieldglass (or equivalent VMS), ensuring compliant intake, structured approvals, and active management against scope and spend. Sourcing Execution & Category Management Design and lead competitive sourcing events (RFI, RFP, RFQ) for Technology Professional Services engagements of varying scale and complexity. Apply best-in-class sourcing methodologies: total cost of ownership analysis, should-cost modeling, supplier scorecarding , competitive benchmarking, and market intelligence. Build and maintain a rationalized, tiered supplier ecosystem — balancing preferred-vendor depth with competitive tension. Manage supplier performance through structured governance, KPI/SLA tracking, QBRs, and continuous improvement initiatives. Stakeholder Partnership & Thought Leadership Establish yourself as an embedded strategic partner to Technology, Engineering, Finance, Legal, and HR leaders — understanding their roadmaps and ensuring sourcing strategy is a true enabler. Translate business requirements into sourcing and commercial strategies that stakeholders trust and champions. Influence sourcing adoption and procurement policy compliance through credibility and education, not just process enforcement. Communicate complex commercial and market insights clearly and persuasively to audiences ranging from project managers to C-suite executives. Value Delivery & Analytics Deliver and track measurable value: cost savings, cost avoidance, risk mitigation, cycle time improvements, and supplier quality gains. Provide monthly savings forecasts and maintain a transparent pipeline of category initiatives with expected timelines and outcomes. Leverage data and analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, spend analytics platforms) to generate actionable category insights and support decision-making. Establish, monitor, and report on KPIs and category health metrics to leadership. Risk, Compliance & Process
