Job Description The primary role is to function as a licensed pharmacist engaged in the practice of pharmacy. Position is responsible for the daily operations of the pharmacy which includes the preparation, dispensing, and delivery of medications as well as the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients and interaction with health care professionals to assure safe and effective medication therapy. This practice of pharmacy may include but are not limited to: patient counseling; dispensing of drugs; monitoring appropriate drug use; providing drug information; ensuring proper documentation and record keeping for all prescriptions; providing information on therapeutic values, reactions, drug interactions and side effects; supervising licensed pharmacy technicians assisting in the practice of pharmacy; complying with Federal, State, and local pharmacy laws and HIPAA guidelines; carrying out interventions when appropriate, noting recommendations in patient notes. Responsibilities Receive and review prescription orders Review and assess therapy for each patient’s prescription to determine therapeutic appropriateness Interact with Patient Care Coordinators, pharmacy technicians, PSPs and other clinicians to coordinate medication preparation and delivery Counsel patients regarding patient medication and administration of drugs Interact with patients, physicians, and third party insurance providers Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with all federal, state and local regulations that govern the practice of pharmacy as well as HIPAA policies and procedures Provide clinical and pharmaceutical education and in-service training for staff Disinfect and clean returned medical devices. Processes medical device returns and conducts functional testing on devices as appropriate Successfully complete role based training requirements, including passing certifications and competency assessments prior to conclusion of training period Maintain a work environment that upholds privacy standards required by law and AbbVie Qualifications Bachelor or PharmD degree in Pharmacy from an accredited pharmacy program is required Licensure in the State of Illinois required Two years experience as a Registered Pharmacist pharmacy preferred. Experience in specialty pharmacy, infusion pharmacy, or hospital pharmacy preferred Must be comfortable interacting with patients and health care providers to provide drug information, advice and counseling Must be willing and able to handle on-call rotations for after-hours patient coverage Must have professional communication skills Additional Information Applicable only to applicants applying to a position in any location with pay disclosure requirements under state or local law: The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of thisposting based on the job grade for this position.
