About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Database Engineer In this role, you will: Lead complex or critical database management initiatives that typically involve multiple disciplines and business groups, including database architecture, design, integration and data modeling Provide the highest technical expertise for the planning, research, design implementation, maintenance, and control of server class databases Review and analyze complex database technologies that require in depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factors Design and certify next generation database technologies Assist in database installations, including troubleshooting and problem resolution Recommend improvements to web application processing issues and design Consult with multiple client groups to provide strategic solutions, influencing long range internal and enterprise level database architecture and management strategies Provide technical leadership and recommendation into the future direction of database technology Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals Required Qualifications: 5+ years of Database Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education Desired Qualifications: Expert in Oracle Database administration and engineering. Strong experience with Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, GoldenGate, RMAN, and Exadata. Skilled in database installation, upgrades, patching, migrations, backup, and recovery. Expertise in high availability, disaster recovery, and database resiliency. Advanced SQL and PL/SQL performance tuning and optimization. Strong troubleshooting, incident management, and root cause analysis skills. Experience with database monitoring, alerting, automation, and observability. Knowledge of Linux/Unix administration and scripting. Familiarity with cloud database platforms and modernization initiatives. Strong understanding of database security, compliance, audit, and CIS standards. Experience leading database architecture, design, integration, and transformation projects. Skilled in Agile delivery, release planning, and change management. Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration abilities. Proven technical leadership, mentoring, and DBA team development experience. Ability to influence enterprise database strategy and technology roadmaps. Focus on continuous improvement, operational excellence, and risk management. Capable of managing multiple priorities in a 24/7 production environment. Oracle certifications (OCP, OCM, Exadata, or Cloud) preferred. Job Expectations: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience Compliance and audit readiness. Team development, mentoring, and knowledge sharing effectiveness. Strong understanding of database security, encryption, auditing, and compliance controls. Experience with monitoring and observability tools for large-scale database environments. Expert knowledge of Oracle Database 19c/21c (or newer versions). Strong experience with Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, RMAN, GoldenGate, and Exadata. Advanced SQL and PL/SQL performance tuning expertise. Hands-on experience with backup, recovery, cloning, and database migrations. Knowledge of Linux/Unix administration and shell scripting. Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Python, or PowerShell. Familiarity with cloud database platforms (AWS RDS, OCI, Azure, or equivalent). Strong understanding of database security, encryption, auditing, and compliance controls. Experience with monitoring and observability tools for large-scale database environments.
