What you’ll build: We are seeking a motivated professional to grow into a technical legal compliance engineer, helping mitigate third-party software risks at SAP through technical analysis, tooling, and automation. You will conduct code audits using Software Composition Analysis (SCA) tools, assess risk, and communicate findings to engineering teams and senior stakeholders. You will also contribute to AI-enabled automation of compliance processes. A strong interest in software licensing, intellectual property, and modern development practices—including AI—is essential. Key Responsibilities:
Apply SAP's open source and IP compliance policies across global development teams Conduct SCA-based code audits; assess and review risks with engineering Coordinate remediation with Product Owners, Global Legal, and Global Security Enhance automated compliance tooling, including AI/LLM-based solutions Support internal frameworks for source code scanning (Java, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, Groovy, Perl) Lead change-management initiatives and rollout of new compliance tools Collaborate with stakeholders across functions and regions Drive operational excellence, documentation and knowledge management
What you bring
Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent 3+ years in software development, quality engineering, security/compliance, or testing (Java, C/C++/C#, or similar) Solid understanding of software development lifecycles and governance Familiarity with open source and commercial software licensing (a plus) Proficiency in Python, Ruby, or JavaScript (a plus) Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern development tooling (a plus) Familiarity with AI technologies, including LLMs, AI-enabled workflows, and emerging components (agents, orchestration, model integration) Interest in development governance, legal compliance, and IP management Strong communication skills with excellent written and spoken English Ability to analyze complex technical/legal topics and clearly convey findings Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Able to work both independently and collaboratively Curious, with a continuous-learning mindset across engineering, compliance, and AI
