About this role
Scopely is looking for a Senior Test Platform & Reliability Engineer to join our Star Trek Fleet Command team in Ireland and help build the next generation of engineering validation in the game.
At Scopely, we care deeply about what we do and want to inspire play every day - whether in our work environments alongside our talented colleagues or through our deep connections with our communities of players. We are a global team of game lovers who are developing, publishing and innovating the mobile games industry, connecting millions of people around the world daily.
Star Trek Fleet Command's ongoing success goes from strength to strength. Our in-house developed multi-platform 4X MMO was launched in 2018 and continues to evolve, being consistently one of the top 10 gross revenue Massive Multiplayer Strategy games on the market.
You'll help shape the engineering platforms behind one of the world's largest live-service mobile strategy games, supporting backend systems that serve millions of players worldwide. Your mission is to design the platforms, automation, and engineering practices that enable development teams to validate performance, scalability, and reliability with production-level confidence before changes reach live.
You'll work across Platform Engineering, Reliability Engineering and Developer Productivity to transform how we test, measure and understand our backend systems. If you enjoy building internal platforms, solving distributed systems problems and creating engineering capabilities that scale across multiple teams, we'd love to hear from you.
This is an opportunity to build capabilities that do not yet exist, not simply maintain existing systems.
What You Will Do
• Our engineering teams already have strong build and CI/CD foundations. The next challenge is enabling engineers to answer questions like: Will this feature scale? Where is the next infrastructure bottleneck? Can we confidently extrapolate this load test to production? How do we detect platform limits before our players do?
• Your work will directly improve our ability to: Ship changes with greater confidence, detect infrastructure bottlenecks earlier, reduce operational risk, improve engineering productivity, and accelerate development across multiple teams.
• You'll help define the future of engineering validation by: Building scalable platforms for performance, load and reliability testing. Designing automation that makes production-like validation simple, repeatable and accessible to engineering teams. Improving how we discover infrastructure bottlenecks before production through better stress testing, observability and validation workflows. Creating reusable engineering capabilities that reduce manual effort and increase confidence in every release. Driving development technical direction for internal testing platforms, reliability engineering and developer enablement.
• You'll provide technical ownership across several areas, including: Test platform architecture and engineering standards. Load, stress and scalability validation capabilities. Test environment lifecycle, automation and repeatability. Engineering tooling that improves developer productivity and release confidence. Cross-team technical guidance for platform validation and reliability practices.
What We're Looking For
• Strong software engineering background working with distributed systems.
• Experience designing or operating internal engineering platforms, developer tooling or cloud-native infrastructure.
• Experience with performance, scalability or reliability engineering.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), containers and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience building automation using CI/CD platforms and modern software delivery
