We a pleased to be able to offer an exciting opportunity to join the Procurement Excellence Team in Derby or Bristol as a Portfolio Executive. The position is a Senior Leadership role reporting into The Senior Vice President – Procurement Excellence. The Portfolio Executive is accountable for co-ordinating the effective and efficient operation of portfolio management practices. You will provide leadership and reporting of the collation of demand, prioritisation and control of projects and programmes, in line with the strategic and operational objectives of the business. Supporting the business leadership team through appropriate portfolio governance, the Portfolio Executive will ensure that a consistent approach to benefits management is applied across the portfolio and that benefits realisation is optimised from the organisation’s investment in change.
What you will be doing
The Portfolio Executive will lead the requirement definition and delivery PM professionalism for their portfolio: Champion the implementation of portfolio management across the organisation. Provide overall direction and leadership for the implementation and delivery of the portfolio. Promote an energised culture that is focussed on collaborative working in the interests of the organisation as a whole. Ensure the portfolio evolves to reflect changes to strategic objectives and business priorities and that resources are reallocated as necessary, through effective change control. Ensure the business case data (particularly costs, benefits and risks) are prepared on a consistent and reliable basis across the portfolio. Undertake investment appraisals and report through standard governance accordingly. Coordinate portfolio prioritisation and report through standard governance across the business. Ensure dependencies are effectively managed and where required, escalate issues through standard governance. Lead on the preparation and implementation of the portfolio stakeholder engagement and communication plan. Identify constraints within the portfolio and work to overcome them. Identify improvements to portfolio, programme and project management practices, engaging the organisation in improving PM professionalism. Identify lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle to promote a culture of continuous improvement in how projects and programmes are delivered. Ensure identified and anticipated customer requirements are understood and delivered through the portfolio.
Preferred qualifications
Qualified to at least degree level or equivalent industry experience. Ideally a member of a professional body or working to achieve an IPMA Level B or Chartered Qualification.
Preferred requirements
Comprehensive experience in the management of programmes / projects of increasing complexity and has successfully delivered Level B complexity projects. Have worked in a programme or portfolio environment. Ideally have experience in all stages of a programme lifecycle and have been responsible for the delivery of one or more of those stages. Experience of or detailed exposure to other professional functions (i.e. Commercial, Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, Services). Demonstrable experience of leading large, multi-faceted globally distributed teams towards effective delivery of complex business requirements. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex
