Together, we’re improving health and improving lives. Labcorp is seeking a Microbiologist to join our supportive and collaborative Safety Pharmacology team at Alconbury, Cambridgeshire . This role is predominantly laboratory-based and would suit a graduate or someone with microbiology or cell biology experience looking to take the next step in their scientific career. Work Schedule: 37,5h/week: Monday – Friday, 8:30-5 Job Responsibilities: Support Study Directors in conducting Microbiology, Virology and In Vitro Safety Assessment studies in accordance with study protocols, regulatory guidelines and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). Assist with studies requiring microbiological organism counts in organs. Perform core laboratory activities including reagent preparation, maintenance of bacterial and fungal strains, cell stock maintenance, dose formulation, equipment monitoring and calibration, record keeping and departmental administration. Accurately collect and record data, including agar plate counts, identification of microbial pathogens, microscope counting techniques and 96-well plate scoring/reading. Maintain stock levels of consumables and reagents and place orders as required. Dispose of expired media and chemicals in accordance with procedures. Maintain cleanliness of laboratory and preparation areas, including glassware management.

BSc degree in Microbiology or a related Cell Biology discipline. Relevant experience may be considered in place of formal qualifications. Additional Job Standards: Knowledge and/or experience in Microbiology, In Vitro Cell Culture or Cell Biology. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Well organised with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines. Team-oriented with the ability to work independently following training.
