The Technician II – Synthesis role is responsible for maintaining and completing standard work processes within the Plate and Column Synthesis lab including oligo production, crude material inventory management, and troubleshooting instrumentation. This position reports to the TNFRP Weekend Midshift Supervisor and is part of the Standard Desalt and Formulated Research Products Value Stream located in Coralville and will be an on-site role. This position will be onsite Friday, Saturday, Sunday 7 pm to 7:30 am. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Operate synthesizers and utilize organic chemistries to daily produce high-quality oligos Utilize liquid handling robots and additional, customized laboratory machinery to drive high through put production. Process and transfer quality products for customer use. Organize and prioritize the workflow in the lab as directed by management. Troubleshoot issues by identifying and reporting problems that may arise throughout the process. Identify instrument problems to submit and follow up on work orders when necessary. The essential requirements of the job include: Associate’s (2 year) degree or comparable combination of education and experience required. Prior IDT synthesis experience It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: SAP software Microsoft applications such as Excel, Outlook, and Power Bi Liquid handling robot use and troubleshooting Experience working in a fast-paced environment Physical Requirements: Exert 20-50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 10-15 lbs. of force frequently Constant (67%-100% of work day) Reaching : extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Using Fingers/Grasping/Feeling : writing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers or palm and perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touch. Hearing : perceiving the nature of sounds at normal range; ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when auscultating and percussing. Repetitive Motion : substantial movements (motion) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Frequently (34-66% of work day) Standing : maintaining an upright position. Walking : moving about on foot to accomplish tasks. Lifting : raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position.
