The Shipping Team Lead at our Dixon, IL location leads shipping department personnel, including assigning work, training personnel, managing time, and solving problems. This is a 1st-shift onsite role, with hours Monday – Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Role
Responsibilities: Lead and support daily shipping activities, ensuring orders are picked, packed, staged, and shipped according to company standards and customer requirements. Assign work, monitor team performance, and provide coaching and guidance to shipping team members. Verify shipping documentation, bills of lading, packing lists, and carrier paperwork for accuracy and compliance. Coordinate outbound shipments with transportation providers and internal departments. Monitor shipping schedules and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines and service commitments. Ensure accurate inventory transactions and system updates related to shipping activities. Investigate and resolve shipping discrepancies, damaged shipments, and customer delivery issues. Train new employees on shipping processes, equipment operation, and safety procedures. Enforce company policies, quality standards, and safety requirements. Conduct routine inspections of work areas and equipment to maintain a safe and organized environment. Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including shipping accuracy, productivity, and on-time shipment performance. Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce costs. Support cycle counts, inventory audits, and warehouse operations as needed. Minimum Qualifications : Ability to pay close attention to detail and coordinate various activities simultaneously Interact constructively and effectively with all plant employees Ability to work in a team environment toward a common goal Ability to use computers, proficiency in Oracle, PDM, MS-Office, MSDS Online, etc. Ability to maintain confidentiality Proven ability to motivate and maintain respect of co-workers Individual productivity level at or above company standards Perform a variety of tasks throughout the day in a fast-paced work environment High School Diploma or GED is required Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of department products, procedures, equipment, and quality standards Ability to pay close attention to detail and coordinate various activities simultaneously Ability to communicate with manager and/supervisor, and co-workers in a courteous and professional manner Ability to work effectively with limited supervision and maintain a positive working relationship with all plant personnel Reacts to change productively and handles other tasks as assigned Hourly Rate: $26.51 Actual salaries may vary based on several factors, including but not limited to applicable work experience, training, education, and performance. This position is eligible for an annual incentive plan based on performance and company growth.
