Georgia Power Job Description Plant Project Engineer/Engineering Analyst (Generation) – GPC Plant Yates/Wansley This posting serves to fill two roles for plant engineer/engineering analyst positions at Georgia Power facilities, one at Plant Yates (Newnan, Ga.) and another at Plant Wansley (Franklin, Ga.). Each site is building new generation to meet the demand of Georgia Power’s Customer Load growth with advanced class generation technology.

JOB SUMMARY

This engineer/engineering analyst role will be responsible for engineering related activities at a power generating plant. This position is responsible for providing technical support and developing long-term plans and budgets to maintain and improve plant equipment performance. Power Generation Engineers/Engineering Analysts manage capital and O&M projects, follow prescribed procedures, provide input on procedure improvements, and conduct analyses to review design options or recommendations for structures, systems, and components. This position is accountable for providing technical direction and troubleshooting for plant electrical and mechanical systems. This position will be responsible for providing ongoing inspection and evaluation of equipment for determining the appropriate direction regarding design and performance improvements, upgrades, and other modifications. This individual will be a troubleshooting resource for operations and maintenance and will be assigned to system ownership. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide outage/project management, project budget management, long-term maintenance strategies and technical support to the plant Develop 5- & 10-year capital budgets and justification for associated capital projects Provide monthly accruals and budget variance explanations to the Financial Analyst Monitor plant performance and make recommendations to improve heat rate and unit reliability. Serve as a system owner of assigned systems Serve as a coordinator of project work – requires contract administrator training Utilize computer business tools to monitor equipment operating performance, develop and justify budgets, plan project scope, develop project schedules, effectively use Maximo work order management system, and prepare reporting on equipment and projects. Initiate, troubleshoot, and review root cause analyses for system equipment failures Work with Southern Company Services (Technical Shared Services), OEMs, and system owners at other plants to stay current of any upgrades or concerns that affect the plant and communicate these needs to plant management, corporate management, and peer groups. This role may also be assigned Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA) administration/engineer role that is responsible for engaging with Mitsubishi Power Americas/Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for performance of the service contract to include, but not limited to: tracking performance & reliability of the equipment, ensuring vendor is keeping current with technical bulletins & recommendations, ensuring appropriate coverage of parts and maintenance activities, outage/maintenance intervals, budget tracking, & reporting. JOB REQUIREMENTS Education B.S. in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program/institution is required Experience Experience in an industrial facility with mechanical/electrical project or design focus involving the maintenance of the following types of equipment: pumps/motors, air/motor operated valves, fans, condensers, boilers, turbines, PLC’s, distributed control systems, and industrial electrical switchgear, circuit breakers, and transformers.
