About this role
At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on Earth. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people. Amazon's Retail Origin Operations team is at the frontline of our global supply chain — overseeing freight movement across 120+ origin ports to 70+ destination ports, serving marketplaces in the US, EU, JP, CA, MX, AU, SG, TR, and MENA regions. As cross-border trade volume grows and business complexity increases, we are seeking an Operations Specialist to help manage logistics service provider (LSP) performance and ensure the seamless execution of retail direct import bookings from origin to destinations. This role sits within the Global Logistics organization. We are looking for candidates with a strong foundation in international freight operations, proven ability to manage LSPs and carriers through data-driven mechanisms, and a continuous improvement mindset. You will operate across ocean, LCL, rail, and air modes, working with partners including Origin Cargo Management service providers, NVOCCs, and LCL service providers. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, takes ownership of outcomes, and brings both analytical rigor and collaborative energy to everything they do. Key job responsibilities As an Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for managing retail booking processing and logistic service provider management at origin including: 1. Daily Operations & Exception Management: Execute assigned tasks per SOPs, resolve exceptions within SLA, and apply sound judgment when no existing procedure applies. 2.LSP Performance Management: Build mechanisms to track and improve logistics service provider performance — optimize KPIs, conduct root cause analysis, and own corrective actions through to resolution. 3. Carrier & Partner Collaboration: Work directly with origin LSPs and internal supportive functions to resolve operational issues and protect the experience of retail selling partners and internal stakeholders. 4. Risk & Compliance Handling: Assess compliance risks, surface roadblocks early, and escalate with clarity — particularly in regulatory or time-sensitive shipment scenarios. 5. Process Standardization & Kaizen: Drive standardization and Kaizen initiatives across carrier and LSP networks to improve logistics quality and reduce cost at scale. 6. Cross-Functional Process Improvement: Serve as a process subject matter expert, partnering with internal teams and external stakeholders to design and implement operational improvements across the supply chain. 7. New Initiative Support: Contribute to strategic programs and business launches, advancing operational excellence goals across speed, cost, and service quality as team scope expands.
