Tool & Die Maker Apprentice

We are seeking a motivated and mechanically inclined Tool & Die Maker Apprentice to join our manufacturing team. This entry-level opportunity is ideal for individuals interested in developing a skilled trade career in precision machining and toolmaking. Under the guidance of experienced Journeyman Tool & Die Makers, the apprentice will learn how to build, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot tools, dies, fixtures, and gauges used in manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and an interest in machining, manufacturing, and problem-solving. Essential Functions: Assist Journeyman Tool & Die Makers with the construction, repair, and maintenance of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges. Learn to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications. Set up and operate manual machining equipment such as mills, lathes, grinders, and drill presses under supervision. Gain experience operating CNC equipment and learning basic machining and programming principles. Use precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges, to inspect parts and verify dimensions. Assist with troubleshooting tooling and die issues to support production efficiency and quality. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tooling, equipment, and work areas. Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment. Participate in apprenticeship training, classroom instruction, and on-the-job learning opportunities. Work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to support manufacturing operations.

High school diploma or GED. Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in machining, manufacturing, or skilled trades. Ability to read measuring tools and perform basic mathematical calculations. Basic computer skills and willingness to learn manufacturing software and systems. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Positive attitude, dependability, and willingness to learn from experienced mentors. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in a manufacturing environment.

Enrollment in or completion of a technical program related to Manufacturing, Machining, Tool & Die, CNC, or Industrial Technology. Experience using hand tools, power tools, or basic machining equipment. Familiarity with blueprint reading or manufacturing processes.
