The Global Network Edge (GNE) team is responsible for delivering technology solutions for the Edge layer of the network. It connects both Google's cloud customers directly to our Cloud Networking and other Google Cloud Platform (GCP) offerings, as well as individual users globally to Google's services such as Gmail, Search, and Youtube through the Google backbone. Participate in the development of software and networking solutions that improves the velocity, performance, safety, transparency, and manageability of Google network systems across various engineering teams. Drive innovation and create requirements and develop designs for new networking product ideas, process improvements, technology velocity, higher systems performance, and cost reductions across organisational boundaries. Own the quantifiable analysis of measurements or data and capacity forecast models for making Google networks more scalable, efficient, and deliver a predictable user experience. Evaluate the current inefficiencies, complexities, and flaws in network systems, and propose designs, software, and processes to improve them. Own resolution for software, hardware, and other network and system problems by determining and recommending appropriate solutions in partnership with other engineering teams.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages. 2 years of experience with data Structures and algorithms. 2 years of experience with networking. Preferred qualifications: Experience with Software-Defined Networking, Network Architecture, Network Design and Networking Protocols. Experience with software development in Golang. Experience with Software Development testing and Software Architecture.
