Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to support multiple facilities projects for the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) . In this role, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing commissioning activities throughout the design, construction, occupancy, and warranty phases of a variety of building projects. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams, contractors, owners, and facility staff to ensure building systems are designed, installed, tested, and operated in accordance with project requirements. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to high-impact educational facilities that support student success and long-term operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct detailed design reviews and evaluate contractor submittals for compliance with project requirements and commissioning objectives. Develop commissioning checklists, functional performance test procedures, and related documentation using web-enabled commissioning (Cx) software platforms. Establish and maintain commissioning equipment lists, test procedures, checklists, and submittal review workflows within commissioning management software. Lead and participate in commissioning coordination meetings with project stakeholders, contractors, and design teams. Identify, document, track, and resolve commissioning issues through comprehensive issues logs and reporting processes. Access, inspect, and evaluate building equipment and Building Automation Systems (BAS) to verify proper installation and system performance. Prepare commissioning observations, commissioning plans, guidance documents, progress reports, and final commissioning reports. Monitor Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) activities and perform TAB verification reviews to validate system performance. Attend regular commissioning team meetings, provide project status updates, and maintain project tracking information within web-enabled commissioning software. Coordinate and oversee owner and operations staff training sessions to support successful facility turnover and long-term operations. Conduct warranty phase walkthroughs and verify resolution of outstanding commissioning-related issues. Support Guaranteed Work Orders and post-occupancy commissioning activities as required. Respond to client requests and provide timely communication and project updates to the Commissioning Team Lead. Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary commissioning, engineering, construction, and operations teams to ensure successful project delivery.
