Directional Drill Operator/Locator Trainee - Long Haul Travel

As a Directional Drill Operator/Locator Trainee supporting our Long Haul Travel crew, you will gain hands-on experience and develop the skills needed to advance into a Drill Operator/Locator role. You will work alongside experienced team members, receiving training and guidance while learning safe and efficient drilling and locating practices. In addition you will: Assist the Directional Drill Operator and Locator with underground conduit, fiber optic, and coax installation while building on your existing skills and developing expertise in Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD). Learn Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) operations, utility locating, and safe drilling practices. Assist with utility potholing/daylighting, job site setup, equipment maintenance, and material handling. Follow safety procedures, participate in pre-job safety briefings, and maintain a safe work environment. Perform general labor duties, including excavation, backfilling, and site restoration. Travel up to 100% as required to support telecom construction projects. Perform other duties as assigned.

About You: A High School Diploma, or equivalent Valid DL with clean record last 3 years (CDL Highly preferred) Precise hand-eye coordination Desire to learn and strengthen skills in safe boring practices. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships Ability to identify and distinguish colors of utility flags and markings on the ground 1 -2 years of experience in Construction Telecom or similar industry. Ability to do some maintenance of drill equipment and mixing unit Basic understanding of Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) operations, locating, and industry best practices. Travel Details: · Per Diem 7 days a week – rain or shine, while on project. · Schedule is roughly 4-5 weeks on, 5 days off, on a rotating schedule. · 50-60 hours per week, overtime applies after 40 hours per week.
