Career Opportunity: As an Early Career, Designer; Part Time (PT), you will be responsible for developing creative design for customer packaging and managing the design related activities and concepts to completion. Your role as the Early Career Designer PT is also responsible for facilitating processes including customer job intake, monitoring the management of department materials, maintaining a schedule and workflow, and participating in creative sessions to identify new opportunities to meet the design needs of customers. Why work with Smurfit Westrock: An Employer that cares about your health and safety and follows best disinfecting and social distancing practices Training and development opportunities to expand your skills A management team committed to Smurfit Westrock's values of Respect, Accountability, Integrity and Excellence A career with a global packaging company where Sustainability, Safety, and Inclusion are business drivers and foundational elements of the daily work How you will impact Smurfit Westrock: Receive and confirm new product design requests (specifications) from customers, Sales, Customer Service, or business unit resource managers to ensure accuracy of customer orders Provide knowledge on design manufacturing and provide recommendations based on WestRock’s capabilities to prevent delays in the development Create structural design sketches, technical drawings, and illustrations to translate customer specifications into visual documentation and prototypes Seek opportunities for continuous (LEAN) improvement in design processes and create process documentation and preventative action plans to enable operating efficiency Work collaboratively with Plant teams to confirm operating capacity to produce product specifications and prioritize production of customer orders Partner with Sales and Pre-Pricing specialist to determine price quotes for the customers Collaborate with the customer in ideation exercises for custom requests to thoroughly understand the customer’s need What you need to succeed: High School diploma or G.E.D. 2 years of work experience in a Design and Manufacturing environment is an asset Working knowledge of CAD systems like Artios or similar Highly creative with the ability to think “outside the box” to develop solutions Growth and results oriented with the willingness and drive to learn new concepts Collaborative and works effectively with others to drive organizational excellence
