About the Role Apply engineering and people-leadership principles to improve product quality, enhance customer service, and reduce costs by optimizing existing manufacturing equipment, leading new equipment development projects, and, when assigned, supervising a technician team that provides safe, compliant, and reliable support in a regulated medical-device manufacturing environment. Your Responsibilities Include:
Provide technical expertise to innovate, develop, and support manufacturing processes, procedures, tooling, and automation systems. Create, review, and interpret technical documentation, including specifications, validations, prototypes, technical manuals, 3D models, schematics, equipment drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs). Lead problem-solving teams using BSC Engineering Essentials tools. Apply project management methodologies to ensure equipment projects meet performance, schedule, and cost objectives. Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. Understand and drive the positive impact of equipment projects on product cost elements. Actively participate in cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives. Communicate effectively and regularly with equipment project sponsors, customers, and stakeholders. Provide technical expertise for the relocation, installation, start-up, qualification, training, and sustaining of equipment related to product and process transfers across the BSC manufacturing network.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and supervise a team of equipment maintenance technicians; set clear expectations and daily priorities, assign work, balance resources and shift coverage, and promote a culture of respect, accountability, inclusion, and teamwork. Manage employee performance through goal setting, regular one-on-one discussions, timely feedback, recognition, and formal evaluations. Address attendance, conduct, or performance concerns; administer disciplinary actions when required; and ensure accurate Kronos time records and compliance with established work schedules. Assess technical capabilities and training needs; establish individual development, cross-training, and qualification plans; mentor technicians; and support knowledge transfer and succession planning to strengthen team capability and coverage. Serve as the technical escalation point for complex, high-impact, or recurring equipment issues. Guide structured troubleshooting, challenge assumptions and proposed solutions, facilitate risk-based decisions, and ensure safe, timely, and sustainable recovery of manufacturing operations. Review and technically challenge root cause analyses, corrective and preventive actions, maintenance strategies, equipment modifications, and vendor recommendations to ensure solutions are data-driven, appropriately documented, validated or qualified as required, and effective in preventing recurrence. Own the execution and performance of corrective and preventive maintenance within the assigned scope, including downtime, customer service, technician response times, work-order quality, preventive maintenance audit results, spare-parts consumption, tool inventory, and 5S results. Use performance trends to prioritize reliability improvements. Coordinate
