Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal or Sr Principal Electromechanical Engineer to join our team. This position will be based out of Aurora, Colorado. The selected candidate for this role will bring a strong background in computer hardware design and integration, with a focus on understanding how changes in requirements impact hardware designs. This role will involve working on systems that utilize diverse electrical signals including power, RF, and fiber optics. A successful candidate will have experience that includes hardware design, integration, and functionality verification. The selected candidate will be someone who can successfully: Collaborate on the design and integration of hardware systems ensuring adherence to changing requirements and specifications. Finalize/update drawings, support equipment moves, rack and stack of equipment and integration of computer equipment into a shelter for deployment. Experience/interest in power/cooling or site construction and traveling to support installation and configuration events would be a plus. CONUS and OCONUS travel possible. Participate in system-level testing and verification processes, ensuring hardware meets all specified requirements and standards. Conduct troubleshooting and modifications on existing hardware designs to enhance performance and reliability. Utilize clear technical writing to document design alterations, prepare status reports, and develop design specifications and validation plans. Maintain a proactive attitude in meetings with cross-functional teams, demonstrating initiative and professionalism while engaging with colleagues and stakeholders. Position may require occasional travel to support field activities and hardware deployment. This position can be staffed at either a Principal or Sr Principal level based on the basic qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications
Principal Electromechanical Engineer: 5 Years with Bachelors in Science STEM; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Year with PhD Sr. Principal Electromechanical Engineer : 8 Years with Bachelors in Science STEM; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD Must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI approval/access. Experience with hardware design and integration processes. Demonstrated knowledge of the impacts of requirement changes on hardware design. Familiarity with power, RF, and fiber electrical signal principles and applications.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with complex system architectures and hardware validation procedures. Knowledge of electronic components and their applications in communication systems. Previous experience in a fast-paced engineering environment with a focus on field support operations is desirable.
