Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Commercial Manager to be based in our Baltimore, MD office to support the B&P Tunnel Replacement (BPTR) Program among other project opportunities available at AECOM. AECOM is the delivery partner for Amtrak on the BPTR Program that will upgrade a ten-mile section of the Northeast Corridor (NEC), America’s busiest passenger rail line. The delivery partner team is responsible for supporting Amtrak with overseeing the full breadth of the program. The scope of services includes program management, design oversight, construction oversight, commissioning oversight, program controls, and commercial and capacity building. The Program will also include delivery of new roadway and railroad bridges, new rail systems and track, and a new ADA-accessible West Baltimore MARC station. The Commercial Manager will oversee the administration and performance of the contract (s). This role ensures effective contract management, compliance, and communication throughout the design phase and contract closeout. The position requires regular attendance at the Integrated Project Office (IPO) in Baltimore with flexibility for travel and remote work as appropriate. The Commercial Manager is responsible for overseeing design management processes while leveraging commercial and contractual expertise to address complex challenges. This role ensures effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams, driving alignment between design objectives and business goals to deliver successful project outcome Key Responsibilities Administer contract(s) ensuring compliance and performance. Manage contract modifications, change orders, and claims resolution. Serve as primary interface for commercial and contractual challenges during design progression. Monitor financial performance, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions. Support dispute resolution and DRB processes. Review invoices and deliverables for compliance with contract terms. Coordinate closely with Procurement and COTR on official contract actions. Maintain vital records for audits, grants management, and contract closeout. Trend and manage E&O activities and commercial impacts on construction packages. Prepare weekly performance updates for leadership. Lead development and maintenance of project risk registers. Support negotiations for contract change orders and variations. Manage design issues impacting construction packages.

Qualifications

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field. 8 years of experience in design management and contract administration or related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Proficiency and knowledge of commercial and
