Senior Process Project Engineer, Helium Recovery Infrastructure At Siemens Healthineers, we pioneer breakthroughs in healthcare. For everyone. Everywhere. Sustainably. We are investing in our manufacturing future, including the development of a purpose-built facility in Oxfordshire, and we are looking for a Senior Process & Project Engineer to help shape the next generation of helium recovery and cooling infrastructure that supports superconducting MRI magnet manufacturing.
About the role
This is a rare opportunity to bring together deep process engineering expertise with senior project leadership in a role that has real technical ownership and visible impact. You will lead the engineering and delivery of critical helium recovery infrastructure, helping to optimise the collection, compression and reliquefication of liquid helium boil-off. You will also support the exploration and implementation of future cooling systems, contributing to the long-term capability of our manufacturing operations. This role would suit someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, working with others to deliver high-value infrastructure projects, and creating clear, reliable ways of working that help teams deliver safely, efficiently and consistently.
What you'll be doing
Taking technical ownership of helium recovery infrastructure, including liquid helium boil-off collection, high-pressure compression and reliquefication systems. Designing, reviewing and improving process engineering solutions for high-pressure gas and liquefaction systems. Reading, reviewing and contributing to technical drawing packs, including P&IDs and PFDs. Supporting compliance with Pressure Systems Safety Regulations, ensuring new and modified recovery assets meet legal, safety and operational requirements. Planning, budgeting and delivering high-visibility capital equipment and infrastructure projects from concept through to commissioning. Leading compressor infrastructure upgrades, including lifecycle replacement and capacity scaling of high-pressure process compressors. Supporting control system improvements, including the modernisation of automation and SCADA layers across the recovery network. Helping develop and implement advanced cooling systems to support future product requirements. Introducing practical, effective project management frameworks that strengthen delivery standards across the business. Partnering with suppliers, contractors and internal stakeholders to align technical specifications and deliver complex engineering assets. Creating structure, clarity and confidence across multi-disciplinary project teams. What skills and experience you'll bring We know people build expertise in different ways, so we welcome applications from those who can bring the right technical knowledge, judgement and project delivery experience. You will bring: A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience. Experience in a process engineering and project engineering environment, ideally within heavy process industries such as oil and gas, energy recovery, chemical processing, industrial gas plants or a similar setting. Knowledge of high-pressure systems, process equipment and safe engineering practice. Working knowledge of Pressure Systems Safety Regulations or equivalent international pressure vessel standards. Experience managing capital equipment projects from business case and tendering through to installation and commissioning. Confidence using project management tools, such as MS Project, to plan, coordinate and track delivery. The ability to
