Distribution Engineering Manager

Leidos is seeking a Distribution Engineering Manager  who is passionate about electric utility design engineering. This position will be working with our growing Power Distribution Engineering team.  This role will require leading other distribution engineers, oversight and QAQC of both simple and complex engineering projects, working directly with clients, and ensuring the Leidos reputation of high quality is maintained. Location: This position offers a remote work arrangement with the expectation of transitioning to a hybrid or fully in-office role in the future. Preference will be given to candidates who reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the Pittsburgh, PA metropolitan area ( Western Pennsylvania ) to support local utility clients as business needs require. The selected candidate must be available to attend in-person meetings, site visits, and client engagements throughout the Pennsylvania service territory on an as-needed basis. Background must haves 5+ years of prior relevant experience is required Bachelor's Degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred); additional relevant experience/certifications may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree Execution of distribution projects from kickoff through design approved Experience with utility reliability projects QAQC expertise Customer interaction Process documentation Experience with the NESC Candidate ideally lives in Western PA / Pittsburgh Nice to haves Professional Engineering License Experience managing a large program with many direct reports Experience providing estimated costs, and developing Bills of Matials Experience with design tools such as Pole Foreman, O-Calc, Spida-Calc Experience using Distribution Design Studio (DDS) – performing Electric Distribution Design Experience with the Work Management System CREWS Relevant management experience of 1+ years Relevant experience with the utility FirstEnergy Professional Attributes Very strong communication skills, written and interpersonal communications skills and supporting of customer advocacy Collaborative and inclusive of individuals of diverse backgrounds and geographic locations Positive attitude Ability to work with limited supervision Professional dress and demeanor Attention to detail Highly organized Excellent time management Typical Day 10%-30% working with client remotely 60%-80% Engineering and development of design pkgs for customer 10% admin/planning/customer follow up We’re looking for someone who is dedicated to ensuring that every project, no matter how simple or complex, is of exceptional quality.
