R&D Software Engineer – Measurement Hardware Control

Develop software to control, calibrate and apply corrections to complex optical and electrical instrument hardware, working with a multi-functional, global team to invent and develop new time-domain measurement instruments: Quickly learn the hardware architecture of sampling oscilloscopes, taking ownership design and implementation of software to correctly control hardware to make desired measurement data acquisitions.  Provide customer-valued performance, robustness, and flexibility.  Working closely with our team of hardware design engineers, rapidly invent and implement software to provide desired functions and performance.   This will include software interface to optical and electrical frontends, signal sampling sub-systems, clock recovery/phase lock loop design at frequencies from 20 GHz to 200GHz with integration to analog control/sensing/adjustment circuitry. Work with a strong team of R&D development HW and SW engineers to integrate individual designs into whole new instruments.  In a team of strong mentors, grow into a technical leader, contributing to developing others. Document and present measurement IP and test methodologies to R&D team, and to multi-functional partners Work with new product introduction teams and partner technology teams to bring integrated hardware/software from concept to product shipment.  Experience the full product development lifecycle and prove your designs are manufacturable as well as high-performance. This position requires significant electrical engineering skills to understand the hardware and significant software development skills to design and implement control/calibration/correction features.  Must have ability to express ideas and work collaboratively with a multi-functional team of engineers, and within a shared multi-developer codebase. Open to BS or MS candidates, most likely with Electrical Engineering major or equivalent field of study with significant software development experience.  Successful candidates are likely to have multiple internships or 2-4 years of related experience to draw upon.
