About this role
Have you ever thought about what it takes to detect and prevent fraudulent transactions so that hundreds of millions of Amazon packages are received on time by our customers? What kinds of products and systems would you build to maximize customer satisfaction? Amazon is seeking a Principal Product Manager who is passionate about protecting customers and can thrive as an individual contributor influencing a diverse, global team. The Relay Trust organization in Transportation Technology and Services (TTS) constantly innovates new ways of building distributed systems running the latest in machine learning algorithms to deliver the next generation of fraud prevention solutions for our customers. We hold high standards for our solutions and the services we deliver: our systems are highly secure, highly reliable, highly available, all while functioning at massive scale and delivering industry-leading precision. Our employees are intelligent, passionate about protecting customers, and fun to work with. As a Principal Product Manager, you will be the single-threaded owner of our most ambiguous and highest-impact fraud prevention problems. You will analyze and identify specific instances of risk, broader risk trends, and points of customer friction, then define scalable products and solutions for prevention. You will set product direction that others build against, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams worldwide and within TTS to solve problems, create operational efficiencies, and deliver against high organizational standards. You will apply a breadth of tools, data sources, and analytical techniques to answer a wide range of high-impact business questions, and you will proactively present new insights in a concise and effective manner. You will work directly with partners in engineering and machine learning to develop new tools and revise risk models. You will also establish the operational and business metrics the organization relies on, and you will use those metrics to identify improvement opportunities. This is an individual contributor role. Your influence comes from the clarity of your strategy, the depth of your technical and customer judgment, and your ability to align teams you do not manage around a shared direction. Key job responsibilities -Own the multi-year product vision and strategy for risk detection and prevention, setting direction that protects Amazon and our customers from transportation-related fraud, misuse, and abuse worldwide. -Serve as the single-threaded product leader on the most complex and ambiguous risk problems, driving alignment across engineering, science, and business stakeholders without direct authority. -Define product requirements and success metrics for automation, machine learning, and tooling investments that improve fraud prevention accuracy and operational efficiency. -Drive data-informed product decisions by leveraging business analysis, risk trends, and customer friction insights to prioritize the highest-impact opportunities. -Design scalable measurement frameworks and continuous monitoring products focused on carrier partner compliance and emerging risk areas. -Partner deeply across engineering and science teams to translate new technologies (ML models, signals, identity verification) into shipped product capabilities. -Raise the product management bar across the organization by mentoring other product managers, writing influential documents, and setting standards for how we define and measure success.
