This position can be located in either Goleta, CA or Oxnard, CA. This position can be filled at a level 2 or level 3. Learn more about Mission Enabling Products at our website: Mission Enabling Products | Northrop Grumman Overview Reporting to the Structural Engineering Manager, the Structural Engineer will be responsible for performing design analysis and testing of one or more of the spacecraft systems of subsystems. You will have ownership of your work from the concept creation through the design and analysis phases and may also participate in the manufacturing, testing, and integration of the systems. Role and Responsibilities: Perform static and dynamic structural analyses, review requirements for materials, structure systems & subsystems. Document test plans and procedure requirements. Participate and present in internal and external (customer) design reviews. Strive for the highest possible structural performance that is also cost effective and assures complete reliability. Manage and track multiple priorities while maintaining a focus towards common project goals of the program team, matrix organization, and customers. Basic Qualifications or Level 3: Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 5 years engineering experience in finite element analysis and closed-form analysis Demonstrated experience with FEA analysis, ie: NASTRAN, for structural analysis of designs Experience with spacecraft/aerospace materials in metals, adhesives, thermoplastics, etc. Demonstrated understanding of mechanical system design Experience providing technical leadership and mentorship to engineers US Citizenship is required Basic Qualifications or Level 4: Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 9 years engineering experience in finite element analysis and closed-form analysis Demonstrated experience with FEA analysis, ie: NASTRAN, for structural analysis of designs Experience with spacecraft/aerospace materials in metals, adhesives, thermoplastics, etc. Demonstrated understanding of mechanical system design Experience providing technical leadership and mentorship to engineers US Citizenship is required Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in a STEM discipline Experience with structures and mechanisms for moving mechanical assemblies such as solar arrays, booms, and other support structures and mechanisms for satellite subsystems 4 or more years of direct Structural Engineering
