About this role
Do you shop on Amazon? Have you ever browsed a product detail page; scrolling through images, comparing prices, checking delivery dates and then clicked "Add to Cart"? That entire experience? Our team builds it. The Product & Offers Experience organization is responsible for building the world's best product evaluation and discovery experiences for Amazon shoppers. We own the experiences that help hundreds of millions of customers worldwide make confident purchase decisions, from the moment they land on a product page to the moment they add to cart. Our work spans offer selection, offer display, pricing presentation, and the rich product information that surrounds the buy box. As the worldwide product showroom for the "everything store," we directly drive the majority of purchase decisions on Amazon across all surfaces; mobile, desktop, and voice. Our focus spans three areas: helping customers discover, evaluate, and compare products and offers; enabling effortless shopping without disrupting their current context; and empowering builders through a scalable, federated architecture that allows hundreds of partner teams across Amazon to innovate within the product and offers experience. In this role, you will lead a team of talented engineers who are customer obsessed and deeply technical. You will define the vision and build a technical roadmap for your team, identifying where to invest, what to build next, and how to evolve the architecture to meet the needs of customers, the business, and partner teams at scale. You will gather requirements from a broad set of stakeholders across the Amazon Consumer organization, explore existing and emerging technologies, identify opportunities and gaps, and drive your team to deliver results that directly impact how customers shop on Amazon. You will also be a people leader first. You will hire, develop, and retain top engineering talent. You will invest deeply in the growth of your engineers — through mentorship, career development, and creating an inclusive team culture where people do their best work. You will set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and build a high-performing team that is motivated, engaged, and continuously learning. You will champion a healthy work environment and foster psychological safety so your team can take bold bets and innovate fearlessly. The ideal candidate has excellent technical depth, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels. You are equally passionate about building great technology and building great teams. You care deeply about people development, operational excellence, and delivering results that matter. If you want to shape how hundreds of millions of customers make purchase decisions on Amazon and grow the next generation of engineering leaders along the way then we want to meet you. Key job responsibilities As a Software Development Manager on the team, you will be expected to: Take on hard, ambiguous problems and break them down to their simple parts.
