About this role

Are you an engineering leader who has defined a bold strategy for your space and delivered on it? Have you built and led teams through transformation where the ambition grew faster than the headcount, and come out the other side with results you can point to? ASBX is looking for a Software Development Manager to lead team, product and engineering strategy, and execution of AI-driven testing capabilities at Amazon: systems that decide what to test, write the tests, explain what went wrong, and close the loop fast enough for an agent to self-correct without human intervention. As a Software Development Manager in ASBX Testing, you will be the product and people leader for Test Assistant and a driving force behind TestSpaces. You will define the strategy for how AI-powered testing capabilities mature from early adoption (10K+ monthly active users today) into the default way every team at Amazon validates software in the AI Development Life Cycle. You will own the product vision, the roadmap, the team, and the results. You are joining an experienced team that is already shipping. Your job is to force-multiply it: sharpen the strategy, raise the ambition, grow and support the team, and deliver at a pace that matches how fast the problem is moving. This role requires a leader who has done this before, not someone looking to learn it for the first time. Key job responsibilities - Defining and owning the product strategy for AI-driven testing at Amazon: what to build, in what sequence, and why that sequence wins. Your strategy must be defensible to senior leadership and ambitious enough to match the rate at which agents are changing how software gets written; - Hiring, growing, and leading a large engineering team through a period of rapid expansion and increasing scope; - Partnering with your SDE, PE and PM colleagues to translate product direction into technical architecture, and holding both accountable to coherence; - Meeting with customers across Amazon to understand how they test today, where their testing breaks down, and what would make them trust AI-generated test evidence enough to ship on it; - Driving delivery execution at a pace that matches the domain. Capabilities in this space that ship six months late ship into a world that moved on; - Owning the product vision for your area. You partner with a product manager, but the vision, the conviction, and the hard prioritization calls are yours; - Deeply shaping the direction of TestSpaces, ensuring that the execution layer and the testing-judgment layer evolve as a coherent system rather than adjacent efforts; - Communicating strategy, progress, and risk to senior leadership clearly and without hedging. A day in the life You lead the team building AI testing capabilities already in daily use by tens of thousands of Amazon engineers, and you are pushing those capabilities from useful individual tools into a coherent testing system that operates across the development lifecycle. On a given day you might be: working with a PE on tech strategy; reviewing architecture and tech designs with your engineers; meeting with another Amazon team as your customer; reviewing Go-To-Market progress with our PM, or presenting your roadmap to ASBX leadership and defending the sequencing choices. Your customers are every builder at Amazon. Your immediate partners are your PE, your product manager, and the teams who own the testing platforms, deployment infrastructure, and AI coding tools that your work builds on and feeds into. The right product decisions in this space compound across the entire company.

About the team
