We are one of the largest commercial electrical contractors in New York City, offering design-build solutions for government agencies, utilities, and private enterprises. We specialize in outdoor electrical construction and maintenance solutions, ranging from intelligent transportation systems (ITS) to fiber optic networks to power systems and more. Job Summary Welsbach Electric is seeking an Electrical Estimator with 3–5 years of experience to join our estimating team. In this role you will prepare takeoffs, price the work, and develop proposals that lay out the bid by phase and by line item. It is a hands-on position for someone who knows the NYC market, keeps their estimates clean and well organized, and meets deadlines when bids are due. Essential Duties & Responsibilities What You’ll Do
Prepare detailed takeoffs using bidding software — Accubid , Accubid Anywhere , Live Count preferred
Price the work and develop proposals that break the bid down by phase and by line item
Review the drawings, specs, and addenda to define scope, inclusions, and exclusions
Identify project risks and develop value engineering options to bring cost down
Work with our engineering staff to obtain budgeting and to review risk and value engineering ideas
Solicit and level vendor and subcontractor pricing so nothing in the scope is missed
Coordinate with the project managers and field to confirm the numbers are sound and the job can be built
Maintain the estimate files, historical pricing, and bid records
What We're Looking For
3–5 years of electrical estimating experience, ideally with an electrical contractor
Proficient in bidding software — Accubid / Accubid Anywhere. Live Count user strongly preferred
Able to read electrical drawings, one-lines, and specifications
Working knowledge of the NEC and NYC / local building codes
Has bid work in NYC and the boroughs, Long Island, and Northern NJ
Strong Excel skills and close attention to detail
Communicates clearly and delivers bids on time in a busy environment
Nice to Have
Core & shell and private (privatized) electrical work in the NYC metro area
Public agency bids (DOT, DEP, MTA) and union labor rules
Bluebeam, or similar takeoff tools
