Specimen Management Specialist- PRN- 1st Shift

Together, we’re improving health and improving lives. Labcorp is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join their Specimen Management team in Houston, TX. Work Schedule:    This is a casual/per diem position, hours will be as needed. Start and end times will vary from Monday- Friday 7:00am- 3:30pm and weekends 7:00am-3:30pm.

Act a liaison between the lab, clients, and patients.  Resolve internal & external customer requests via calls, instant messenger & email communications  Communicates with customers in respectful and professional manner.  Work in multiple databases to research complex issues and questions.  Provide customer education and information as needed.  Review test forms for accuracy and report any discrepancies.  Prepare and triage specimens for analysis.  Accurately identify and label specimens.  Pack and ship specimens as necessary.  Prepare and store excess specimen samples.

High School Diploma or GED equivalent   1 year or more of experience in the healthcare industry, such as a physician's office, clinic or hospital  Preferred Qualification:   Current or prior Labcorp experience  Associates degree  1 year or more of experience in customer service Additional Job Standards   Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal  Familiarity with laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures   Comfortable handling biological specimens  Ability to accurately identify specimens  Experience working in a team environment  Strong data entry and organizational skills  High level of attention to detail  Well-versed in applications like Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and willingness to learn new applications  Ability to lift up to 40lbs.   Able to pass a standardized color blindness test   At Labcorp we have a passion in helping people live happy and healthy lives.  Every day we provide vital information that helps our clients and patients understand their health.  If you are passionate about helping people and have a drive for service, then Labcorp could be a great next career step!
