Reporting to the Technical Product Owner, Enterprise POS, th e Business Data Analyst role translates business questions from the Business Units , CoEs , CoCs, and Global Business Solutins into well-formed requirements and user stories and serves as the platform's first line of quality by profiling sources, developing test cases, and running QA and UAT before anything reaches enterprise release. The B usiness D ata A nalyst is also the operational steward of product attribution providing hands-on hierarchy management during platform build-out, evolving into a hierarchy-evolution partnership with the Enterprise Data Architect as the governed masters mature.
What You'll Own
Business Requirements & User Stories Translate business questions from BUs, Commercial Excellence, Finance, S upply Chain , and other key partners into data and reporting requirements. Write business-facing user stories with testable acceptance criteria. Document business logic, metric definitions, and data dictionaries for assigned domains. Maintain traceability from business requirements to delivered assets . Data Profiling, QA & UAT Profile new and existing data sources using SQL and built-in profiling tooling for completeness, consistency, and fitness for intended business use. Develop test cases and acceptance criteria for POS data products, maintained as permanent regression sets. Execute QA and UAT, reconciling metrics against trusted baselines before enterprise release. Surface profiling and QA findings to the Technical Product Owner, Enterprise Data Architect and delivery leads as the evidence base for governance discussions and decisions. Demand Shaping & Enterprise Asset Reuse Evaluate business requests against existing assets championing data product reuse . Feed prioritized demand and use cases to the Technical Product Owner with clear business context. Participate in intake triage and discovery spikes for unprofiled sources. Attribution & Hierarchy Stewardship A ctively manage product hierarchies and attribution mappings during platform build-out, serving as operational owner of current-state attribution. Serve as the analytics-facing consumer of the governed masters and attribution crosswalk, surfacing gaps to the Enterprise Data Architect. P artner with the Enterprise Data Architect on product hierarchy evolution including category changes, item onboarding gaps, and rules needing revisio n, with changes approved through the Architect's change process. Validate downstream impact of hierarchy and attribution changes before they are promoted. Support BU Platform Configuration Configure BU-specific data and reporting views within the enterprise POS platform to solve challenges where a standard or common solution is not feasible . Partner with the BI Delivery Leader to keep BU views aligned to the enterprise foundation . Analyze usage and feedback to recommend enhancements or retirement. Documentation & Knowledge Management Own requirements, user stories, test cases, UAT results, and data dictionaries for assigned domains. Document attribution and hierarchy decisions made during transitional stewardship so tribal knowledge is codified, not recreated. Contribute definitions and business logic to the enterprise knowledge base. Champion a "documented once, reused everywhere" culture from the demand side.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Substantial experience as a business or data analyst in an analytics environment, with demonstrated requirements-to-delivery ownership. Proven experience developing and executing structured
