Job Description
NBC News is seeking a Freelance Graphics Platform QA Specialist to join the NBC News Innovation Team in support of the network's custom graphics platform and graphics ecosystem. While this role supports graphics initiatives across NBC News year-round, its primary focus during the current election cycle will be testing, validating, and preparing graphics workflows, software, and data integrations that power NBC News' election coverage. Working closely with the Elections Graphics Director, Product, Engineering, Editorial, Design, and Production teams, this role ensures internally developed graphics applications are reliable, accurate, and production-ready for live news and special event coverage. As part of the Innovation Team, this position serves as the bridge between editorial users and technical teams, translating production needs into technical requirements while helping drive platform adoption through training, documentation, and workflow development. PLEASE NOTE: This is a short term position with an estimated duration of 6 months or less, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.
Key Responsibilities
Perform functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing of internally developed graphics applications and production workflows. Validate graphics, templates, data integrations, and user workflows for accuracy, functionality, performance, and editorial integrity. Identify, reproduce, document, and verify software defects, workflow issues, and feature enhancements through established QA processes. Partner with the Elections Graphics Director, Product, Engineering, Editorial, Design, and Production teams to validate new features, refine workflows, and support software releases. Serve as the subject matter expert for NBC News' graphics ecosystem, maintaining deep knowledge of self serve and election graphics, production workflows, and end-to-end execution pipelines across full-screen graphics, tickers, studio displays, video walls, augmented and virtual reality experiences, touchscreen applications, and emerging presentation platforms. Develop and maintain test plans, testing documentation, workflow procedures, and platform best practices. Provide training and support to newsroom and operational teams to facilitate adoption of new platform features, workflows, and production processes as needed. Serve as a liaison
