The Airborne Radar Design Department is currently seeking an early career Mechanical Engineer (Eng I, Mech Engrg) for the Processors and Electronic Packaging and Antenna and Electronics Packaging sections in El Segundo, CA. The person in this position will be involved in antenna mechanical design and/or electronics packaging design for state-of-the-art airborne radar subsystems including Receiver, Exciter, Processor and Power Supply. Tasks will include mechanical engineering support throughout the hardware life cycle, including concept development, preliminary and detail design, system integration and test, selection of manufacturing techniques, transition to production, production support and installation. Typical technologies include electronic enclosures, heat exchangers (coldwalls), machined components, RF microwave assemblies, and power converter units, often with challenging size, weight, power, and cost requirements.
What You Will Do
Provide technical support on major programs and interface with Lead Mechanical Engineers and Chief Engineers to support design objectives. Contribute to project teams through design development and ensure that established procedures are followed in the creation of technical data packages, while meeting program design objectives. Work from requirements to help develop unit design concepts and perform design trades. Contribute to developing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems. Complete detailed layouts and design documentation using Computer Aided Design tools. Provide support to suppliers who fabricate components and assemblies.
Qualifications
You Must Have: Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or (STEM) field obtained prior to start. Experience with ANSI drawing standards. Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances). Experience with electronic packaging. Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects Qualifications We Prefer: Proficiency with CREO or similar 3D solid modeling software. Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances) Exposure to RF principles, RF circuit card design, RF materials, manufacturing and producibility. Exposure to high-frequency environments, enclosure design, EMI shielding, cable design and thermal management. Exposure to manufacturing processes for CCAs, metal housings, and brazements, or experience in manufacturing and assembly support. Strong technical background with high technical aptitude. Hands-on mechanical project experience. Current DoD security clearance.
