About this role
Amazon QuickWork is an AI-powered intelligent work companion that helps knowledge workers manage their digital workload — connecting Slack, Email, Calendar, and local files into a unified desktop experience. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) who is passionate about quality, automation, and building robust test infrastructure at scale. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks and tools that ensure the reliability, performance, and quality of QuickWork's cross-platform application, AI agent pipelines, and integration connectors. You will work closely with engineering teams to define quality standards, drive test automation, and enable faster delivery cycles while maintaining high customer trust. Key job responsibilities 1. Test Automation & AI Integration - Design and implement AI-powered frameworks to systematically migrate manual test cases to automated solutions - Leverage generative AI to accelerate test case generation, maintenance, and optimization - Build intelligent test frameworks that adapt to platform changes and reduce maintenance overhead 2. Pipeline Development & Infrastructure - Architect and develop fully automated multi-stage CI/CD pipelines for comprehensive test execution - Implement static analysis tools and frameworks for early defect detection - Architect and develop scalable test automation infrastructure for desktop (Electron), web, mobile, and API-based services, covering functional, integration, and end-to-end testing - Create scalable testing infrastructure that supports parallel execution and rapid feedback cycles 3. Quality Assurance Focus Areas - Develop comprehensive functional test suites ensuring feature correctness across the rendering stack - Build UI consistency validation frameworks that verify adherence to UX standards and design specifications - Implement performance testing frameworks measuring memory consumption, CPU utilization, and rendering fluidity 4. Technical Leadership - Drive testing strategy and best practices for test design, code review testing standards, and quality metrics - Collaborate with software engineers to ensure testability is built into system design - Mentor team members on test automation techniques and AI-assisted testing approaches - Contribute to the continuous improvement of development and testing processes.
About the team
We're a small, high-ownership team building an AI-native desktop product from the ground up. Our philosophy is simple: we use what we build. Every day, the team relies on our own product to manage tasks, triage notifications, draft documents, and stay organized — if something doesn't work for us, we fix it before it ships to anyone else. The team spans applied science and engineering, and we operate more like a startup than a large org. You'll work closely with scientists on memory systems and retrieval, with frontend engineers on the desktop experience, and directly with customers who use the product daily. We value end-to-end ownership, strong opinions loosely held, and shipping delightful experiences over shipping features. We believe trust is earned through safety — our architecture is designed with least-privilege principles from the ground up, giving users full transparency and control over what the AI can see and do. If you care about building AI systems that are genuinely useful and responsible, you'll fit right in. Diverse Experiences AWS values diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the preferred qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage candidates to apply. If your career is just starting, hasn’t followed a traditional path, or includes alternative experiences, don’t let it stop you from applying. Why AWS? Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform. We pioneered cloud computing and never stopped innovating — that’s why customers from the most
