Trimble E-Tools is seeking an engineer with hands-on experience in cloud platforms and AI-assisted engineering frameworks to build and scale our developer experience and productivity ecosystem.
What You Will Do
Productivity Tooling Automation: Partner with divisional software engineering teams to design, automate, and deploy core tools aimed at measuring and optimizing the end-to-end software development lifecycle (SDLC). AI-PDLC Platform Governance: Maintain and optimize cloud-native toolchains across a unified environment, directly executing the operational transition to an AI-Product Development Lifecycle (AI-PDLC) framework with zero operational gaps. Engineering Performance Metrics: Instrument, track, and report on global engineering metrics utilizing industry-standard delivery and experience signals (DORA and SPACE frameworks) to quantify feature velocity and tool ROI. Standardized Dashboards: Build automated visualization workflows and metrics dashboards (via Domo) to capture key adoption trends, including the percentage of AI-generated code rewritten and active code in production. Intelligent Support Workflows: Automate administrative platform infrastructure and develop AI-influenced self-service ticketing paths and virtual agents within Jira Service Management and FreshService. Shift-Left Security Compliance: Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to protect product environments by embedding automated shift-left security controls via toolsets like Trufflehog, Mend, and Wiz. Advanced Code Validation: Support exploratory validation pipelines, including AI-generated bill-of-materials (AIBOM) scanning to audit code generated by AI coding assistants. Global Ecosystem Liaison: Act as a central hub between E-Tools and engineering business units across 40+ countries to drive central feature adoption and deprecate localized plugins. What Skills & Experience You Should Bring Education & Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technology discipline, with 1 to 3 years of experience in cloud environments and scalable SaaS architectures. Scripting & IaC Infrastructure: Proficiency in core scripting languages (Python, TypeScript, or Go) alongside experience utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC via Terraform/CloudFormation) and containerization tools. Cloud Platform Foundations: Practical operational knowledge of cloud platforms, with primary focus on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and secondary exposure to Microsoft Azure or GCP configurations. AI Tooling Integration: Proven hands-on experience configuring or working alongside enterprise AI assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, Atlassian Rovo) within software development environments. Model Context Protocol (MCP): Technical familiarity with utilizing the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to securely connect AI models to localized engineering frameworks, source repositories, and secure files. Analytical Problem Solving: Strong capability to analyze raw engineering workflow data, draw out operational insights, and implement data-driven process enhancements. Communication Capabilities: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills suited to support a global, always-on developer footprint of over 11,000 users.
