Discovery is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Tax & Garnishments Analyst to join the GBS P&C Shared Services team. This role provides technical expertise in payroll tax and garnishments administration while supporting compliance with federal, state, local, and international regulations and reporting requirements. Responsibilities include reviewing payroll tax filings, validating garnishment processing, researching and resolving complex issues, and responding to employee and stakeholder inquiries. Partnering closely with the Supervisor, Payroll Tax & Garnishments, the Analyst helps ensure regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions and legal entities while supporting process improvements, compliance initiatives, and special projects.
Your Role
Accountabilities Maintain payroll tax and garnishment data within Workday Payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations. Review, validate, and submit payroll tax data for tax returns and ADP filings. Calculate and process payroll-related adjustments, including garnishments, tax corrections, and other statutory deductions. Identify, investigate, and resolve tax and garnishment discrepancies arising from periodic and quarterly payroll tax filings and data transmissions to ADP. Perform payroll tax and garnishment reconciliations, including analysis of general ledger and balance sheet accounts. Partner with Payroll, Payroll Settlement, and Accounting teams to research and resolve payroll-related discrepancies. Provide exceptional customer service by researching and responding to payroll tax and garnishment inquiries from employees, government agencies, and internal and external stakeholders. Manage and prioritize tax and garnishment cases through the company’s case management system to ensure timely resolution. Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to audit inquiries, and assisting with audits conducted by federal and state tax authorities. Compile, analyze, and document issues in order to identify systemic issues or problems. Participate in testing and validation of payroll system enhancements, upgrades, and process changes. Review and update training materials on tax and garnishment processing and maintain internal policies and procedures in accordance with the law. Maintain and update training materials, policies, and procedures to ensure alignment with legal, regulatory, and business requirements. Support special projects, process improvement initiatives, and other responsibilities as assigned by leadership to meet departmental and enterprise objectives Qualifications & Experience Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in multi-state payroll, payroll tax, and garnishment administration, working with Workday Payroll, Workday HCM, or a comparable SaaS-based payroll platform. Experience supporting payroll operations within a large, complex, multi-business unit organization is a plus.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC), or comparable certification preferred. Technical Skills: Strong
