Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking Technical Editor & Writer to join our team tasked to develop and modify technical manuals in support a ground-based radar system. As a Technical Editor/Writer you will be a key member of the team developing and modifying technical orders and manuals which are critical to maintain and operate the system. The successful candidates should have experience with the development of Technical Orders and Technical Manuals for military systems. This new opportunity will be based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Primary Responsibilities: Write, rewrite and/or edit technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications. Communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences through effective and concise technical writing. Acquire system knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts required within technical and operations manuals Develop, update, and integrate remove and replace procedures within technical orders and maintenance manuals. Provide technical writing/editing for technical data, ensuring file configuration control, and compliance against contract requirements. Conduct quality review of materials developed by other technical editors on the team. Basic Qualifications Must have an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope. 2 Years with Bachelors; 4 additional years of experience required in lieu of a degree. Ability to travel up to 10% CONUS AND OCONUS Knowledge of industry practices and standards for the development of technical and operations manuals Able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and system description documents Experience with developing products IAW MIL-STD 40051-1 and 40051-2 Strong writing and editing skills, and experience in manipulating grammar Experienced in querying authors for clarity and compliance purposes and must be skilled in Microsoft Word, MS excel, and PowerPoint Experience in utilizing the Maintenance Manual change process Experience writing in XML/S1000D International Specification for Technical Publications/IETM/Data Module
