Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Project Civil Engineer for our Oakland, California office to support dam, levee, and hydropower infrastructure projects as part of our industry-leading Pacific Dams / Hydro practice. This role offers the opportunity to advance into leadership roles within our team, managing tasks or projects while continuing to be involved in technical work contributing to projects that enhance the safety, resilience, and long-term performance of critical infrastructure systems throughout Northern California and the western United States. The successful candidate will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of senior engineers and technical specialists to support analysis and design efforts for a wide range of dam and water resources facilities. This position provides hands-on experience across multiple phases of project development, including planning, design, construction support, and regulatory coordination, with strong mentorship and clear pathways for professional growth. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to : Prepare and/or peer review designs, specifications, and construction documents. Development of plans, technical specifications, and quantities for construction cost estimates. Review regulations and standards necessary to carry out project design and permitting work. Participate in field and/or office engineering activities during construction projects. Apply QA/QC requirements to their own work and work of the project team. Create design models in AutoCAD Civil 3D for the purposes of analysis, construction plans and cost estimates. Coordinate design elements with internal and external multi-disciplinary teams.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements : Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering or related field and 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Preferred Qualifications : Master’s Degree, or pursuing a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field 10+ years of relevant experience. Expertise with AutoCAD Civil 3D Expertise with civil layout and design Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word. Expertise with complex 3D geometry for earthwork. California Professional Engineer (PE) license.
