Job Description

Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a System Safety Engineer to support the Aircraft Development Safety team in Getafe, Spain. The job position is based on Toulouse (France). You will be part of a multidisciplinary team developing advanced military aircraft. As part of the Aircraft Development Safety team, you will be involved in ensuring that our products are designed, developed, and supported in full compliance with international safety and airworthiness standards, aiming at guaranteeing the highest level of operational security and reliability. Your challenges: 1. System Safety Assessment & Analysis Lead and oversee comprehensive System Safety Assessment (SSA) activities for military aircraft systems throughout all development phases. Conduct systematic examinations of system functions to identify and classify potential failure conditions based on their severity. Execute advanced safety analyses, including Common-Cause Analysis (such as Particular Risk Analysis, Zonal Safety Analysis, and Common Mode Analysis) to mitigate systemic risks. 2.

Requirements

Engineering & Interface Management Define and architect complex System Safety requirements ensuring alignment with strategic safety objectives. Define and manage safety requirements at the interfaces between interacting systems. Act as a key technical interfaces and consultant for various domains, including maintenance, human factors, aircraft performance, structures, and quality to ensure seamless integration. 3. Certification & Regulatory Compliance Drive the certification process by providing expert technical evidence and defending safety arguments before Airworthiness Authoritie Perform risk analyses required to demonstrate Continuous Airworthiness (ensuring the aircraft remains safe throughout its entire operational life). Review and approve supplier data regarding Safety and Reliability to ensure high-quality integration. MANDATORY: This position requires a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.

Your profile

Competences and experience: Background : Strong technical foundation in Aeronautical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of aircraft systems and complex technical architectures. Experience in System Engineering, specifically regarding interfaces with Safety Assessment, Airworthiness, or Certification processes. Proficiency in MS Office Suite. Experience with specialized Safety Tools (e.g., Isograph FaultTree+) is a significant advantage. Soft Skills: Ability to work with high autonomy, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Proven ability to solve complex, non-routine technical problems and provide strategic recommendations. Commitment to integrity and professional ethics in handling compliance risks. Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken).
