The Role
The Strategy & Portfolio Management team sits at the center of Carlyle AlpInvest’s investment platform, providing analysis and insight that spans the firm’s Primary, Secondary, Portfolio Finance, and Co-Investment strategies across both Institutional and Retail/Semi-liquid products. The team works closely with colleagues across investment, fundraising, investor relations, risk, legal, and compliance, and across Carlyle AlpInvest’s offices in New York, London, Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Tokyo.
As a Senior Analyst, you will develop deep knowledge about private equity portfolio management and construction. You will set up and maintain in-depth analyses of the firm’s portfolios, working with large, complex datasets to create, manage, analyze, report, and explain investment and portfolio information. The work draws on Carlyle AlpInvest’s proprietary portfolio database, industry benchmarks, AI tools, and financial models, with an additional focus on developing and scaling these tools and processes to support Carlyle AlpInvest’s growing investor and product base. Analysis from the team feeds directly into strategic portfolio management decisions, with regular exposure to investment team leadership and senior management.* Drive strategic decisions through advanced modelling and analyses of funds, portfolios, and liquidity. * Maintain track records and key metrics across Primary, Secondary, and Co-Investment strategies to support fundraising initiatives and internal benchmarking. * Prepare and automate monthly, quarterly, and annual portfolio reporting for investors, including performance attribution and benchmarking. * Serve as a key point of contact for portfolio-related inquiries from investors, delivering timely, accurate, and well-reasoned responses.
Modeling & Tools * Develop and enhance portfolio models covering cash flow forecasting, pacing, performance analysis/attribution, and client allocation. * Support budgeting and forecasting at portfolio, product, and firm level, including scenario analysis to inform strategic planning. * Design and implement new analytical tools and reporting frameworks; improve business processes to scale operations for a rapidly growing client base.
Strategic Support * Work with investment team leadership and senior management to establish and continually improve Carlyle AlpInvest’s liquidity and portfolio management practices. * Support fundraising efforts through the preparation of track record materials, exposure modeling, and product
