Description: Strategic Defense Solutions is seeking a Senior Manager of Systems Engineering to provide strategic, technical, and people leadership for a systems engineering team responsible for delivering complex, high‑reliability mission system solutions to our customers. This role oversees all aspects of the systems lifecycle to ensure program success and alignment with business objectives. This position requires: US Government Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance Day 1 . Onsite: This is an onsite role supporting our Richardson, TX location. Sign-on Bonus Eligible What YOU will do: Provide day‑to‑day and long‑range leadership for a systems engineering team, including coaching, performance management, career development, and staffing Lead system architecture definition, requirement decomposition, and technical planning activities across multiple programs Ensure engineering rigor through consistent use of systems engineering processes, best practices, and compliance with organizational standards Collaborate with program management, hardware, software, and specialty engineering functions to drive technical integration and successful execution Oversee risk management, trade studies, technical decision‑making, and documentation Establish and maintain technical roadmaps, capability development plans, and continuous improvement initiatives within the team Manage resources, schedules, and priorities to support multiple concurrent programs Drive a culture of accountability, innovation, inclusion, and high performance Qualifications You Must Have: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience Active and transferable U.S. Government (DoD) Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain an active U.S. Government (DoD) Top Secret Clearance U.S. Citizen - U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract Extensive experience in systems engineering for complex hardware/software systems Demonstrated experience managing or leading engineering teams. Strong understanding of system architecture, requirements management, integration, and verification processes Experience across the full systems engineering lifecycle (proposal through sustainment) Excellent communication skills with ability to engage executives, customers, and cross‑functional stakeholders Proven ability to balance technical depth
